Monti Sibillini National Park
Monti Sibillini National Park is the real paradise for hikers and for walkers seeking the ultimate escape, amid a heartbreakingly beautiful, wild and peaceful corner of Italy.
In the kingdom of the mythic Sibilla, Monti Sibillini National Park was established in 1993 with the aim to safeguard the environment and drive the social and economic development of an amazing mountain area.Rising between Umbria and Marche in the heart of Italy the Monti Sibillini National Park is characterised by soaring limestone peaks reaching the 8123.36 ft (Mt. Vettore), magnificent grassy uplands (e.g. Piano Grande) and a glorious sense of isolation. Here the Wolf, the Golden Eagle, the Peregrine, the Apennine Chamois, Marsican bears, Roe deer, wild boars, a wide variety of birds and a number of endemic specie.
The amazing Pian Grande is a vast mountain meadow, crowned by the ancient village of Castelluccio and covered with an incredible variety of flowers especially in early summer: thanks to the cultivation of the Lenticchia di Castelluccio, a PGI product, the whole area in June/July is covered with small flowers of the legume, creating a landscape of incredible beauty.
