But the identity of Umbria is made from <strong>small medieval hamlets<\/strong> on the top of the hills that you can find everywhere. Among the best known Umbrian towns you can count Citt\u00e0 della Pieve (at the border with Tuscany), Norcia, Spello, Spoleto, Orvieto, Citt\u00e0 della Pieve, Todi, Gubbio and \u2013 of course \u2013 Assisi, the birthplace of St. Francis, each town revealing an incredible wealth of art treasures, many of which dating back to the Middle Ages and laden with local handicrafts.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<h3>Umbria, with its folklore festivals, gastronomic traditions, local flavours and wines<\/h3>\r\n<p>Umbria is also al lot of <strong>folklore festivals<\/strong> such as the \u201cPalio dei Terzieri\u201d in Citt\u00e0 della Pieve, the \u201cQuintana\u201d in Foligno, the Celebration for Santa Rita in Cascia, the \u201cGiochi de le Porte\u201d in Gualdo Tadino and last but not least the \u201cCorsa dei Ceri\u201d in Gubbio which dates back to 1160. Morover, in Umbria there are also much younger events but very well known as well worldwide such as Umbria Jazz and Eurochocolate, both in Perugia city.<\/p>\r\n<p>Furthermore Umbria is a spectacle of nature with a proud <strong>gastronomic tradition<\/strong>.
