Spello keeps also genuine medieval aspects whose charme is increased by the presence of the Roman substratum.<br>\r\nIn Spello there are numerous events during the year and the most beautiful and unusual one is on the occasion of \u201cCorpus Domini\u201d in which carpets of flowers are picked on the slope of Mount Subasio and strewn on the streets with wonderful drawings for the procession of Corpus Christi.<\/p>\r\n<h3>Bevagna<\/h3>\r\n<p>Not far from Spello you find <strong>Bevagna<\/strong>, a very small beautiful town whose main square offers a medieval setting of great charm for the presence of monuments and churches in a very small place.<\/p>\r\n<h3>Montefalco<\/h3>\r\n<p>Montefalco is famous for its particularly strong wine \u201cSagrantino\u201d. The artistic importance of the town was due to the Franciscans who erected the church and the convent and enriched them which wonderful works of art: \u201cBenozzo Gozzoli\u201d is one of the painters to be mentioned with the famous cycle of the \u201cStories of St. Francis\u201d.<\/p>\r\n<h3>Gubbio<\/h3>\r\n<p><strong>Gubbio<\/strong> raises as an Umbrian town then dominated by the Romans.\r\nThe visit of Gubbio is very interesting for the medieval atmosphere you feel in its streets and squares.\r\nPalazzo Ducal is one of the most beautiful civil building .<\/p>\r\n<h3>Todi<\/h3>\r\n<p><strong>Todi<\/strong> had a particular position on the border between the Etruscan territory and the Umbrian one. Todi was a Roman municipality and afterword a free commune.<br>\r\nIt is full of early medieval monuments and its position on the hill gives tourists the opportunity of enjoying a beautiful view of the plain. It is delightful to stroll about its alleys and see its Etruscan Roman walls and the medieval quarters.<\/p>\r\n<h3>Orvieto<\/h3>\r\n<p><strong>Orvieto<\/strong> became important in the middle ages because of the Francigena road leading pilgrims from the North to Rome. The Cathedral is one of the most magnificent specimen of Italian Goghic-Style: what strikes visitors is the position of the church whose effect is increased by golden mosaic works and polychromatic marbles.<\/p>\r\n<h3>Spoleto<\/h3>\r\n<p>While going to Spoleto you pass the \u201c<strong>Fonti del Clitunno<\/strong>\u201d celebrated by the Italian poet Carducci but also very well known by the Romans who considered it a place sacred to the God Clitunno.<br>\r\nSpoleto was inhabited before the Romans arrived. It is a beautiful town full of Roman remains.\r\nIt is well known for its \u201cfortress and for the Bridge of the towers\u201d built by Albornoz who conquered Spoleto for the Pope.
