Festivals and events in Umbria

Umbria is a region with a strong historical vocation and many of the events that take place there reflect this vocation; in fact there are many historical reenactments, such as Perugia 1416, the “Giochi delle Porte” in Gualdo Tadino, the Calendimaggio in Assisi, the Market of the Gaite in Bevagna and many others, which recall moments of life and historical moments mostly of medieval and renaissance times.

There is also no shortage of events that recall the enogastronomic tradition, such as Cantine Aperte, during which the best Umbrian wineries open their doors to visitors by organizing tastings, picnics and guided tours, I Primi d’Italia in Foligno dedicated to the typically Italian world of pasta, Nero Norcia, the festival dedicated to Umbrian black gold, the Tartufo Pregiato di Norcia and the National White Truffle Fair of Acqualagna.

In Umbria there are also many international musical events, starting from Umbria Jazz, which takes place in Perugia, to Trasimeno Blues, in various locations of Lake Trasimeno and Umbria Jazz Winter, winter version of the summer festival which takes place in the beautiful setting of Orvieto.
