Eurochocolate: the chocolate festival in Perugia, the city of chocolate

Every year in autumn the historic centre of Perugia dresses up for one of the most important gastronomic events: the Eurochocolate festival.

In the setting of Perugian medieval palaces, many chocolate artisans gather for an event that over the years has become increasingly important, attracting tourists and onlookers from all over Italy.

At the origin of the event there is the presence of “Perugina”, the historic factory founded in 1907, originally a producer of sugared almonds, which gave rise to “Cacao Perugina”, a landmark of cocoa, the bar “Luisa”, in honor of Luisa Spagnoli, which in turn gave birth to one of the most famous chocolates in the world: the “Bacio Perugina”, originally called cazzotto.
